Birding and Gorillas - Best of Uganda
Join Etienne Birding and Harriet Kemigisha on a 14 day extravaganza to this most beautiful of countries. With a tapestry of landscapes, superb wildlife, a host of awesome national parks. Uganda offers a huge amount for a small country. The trip includes Gorilla Trekking - offering perhaps one of the most humbling encounters with these increasingly scarce giants! From a birding perspective, this small landlocked country falls within the influence of a number of regional centres of endemism making it an incredibly productive point of entry into African Birding. We have the opportunity; to get to grips with a number of Albertine Rift Endemics and include including Rwenzori Turaco, African Green Broadbill, Red-throated Alethe, Archer’s Robin-Chat, Kivu Ground Thrush, Red-faced Woodland Warbler, Short-tailed Warbler, Grauer’s Warbler, Collared Apalis, Mountain Masked Apalis, Yellow-eyed Black Flycatcher, Rwenzori Batis, Stripe-breasted Tit, Purple-breasted Sunbird, Blue-headed Sunbird, Regal Sunbird, Strange Weaver, Dusky and Shelley’s Crimsonwings.
Then there is the remarkable and weird Shoebill – a huge stork like bird, which is perhaps the most iconic “big” bird of Africa.
